In order to better understand the European sector of game development right before GDC Europe, the Game Developers Conference has surveyed over 400 European games industry professionals who have attended GDC shows, read Gamasutra, or plan to attend GDC Europe 2014 in August. EA wants to use machine learning to create real-time game narratives

EA boss Andrew Wilson has been speaking to Glixel about the publisher's plan for the next five years. 

Now, it's not uncommon to hear some of the industry's biggest names wax lyrical about the future or the 'next big thing' during E3. The whole point of the show, after all, is to get consumers foaming at the mouth about what lies ahead.

  • Rovio shares fall by 20 percent thanks to rising UA costs

    Rovio has seen its share price drop by 20 percent two months after its IPO, with declining profits and rising user acquisition (UA) costs the likely culprits. 

    Shares began trading for around $13.6 when the Finnish outfit first went public, but are now going for around for $11 per share.

    The company's financials for the three months ended September 30 show that revenues actually increased 41.2 percent year-over-year to $83.8 million. 

    However, user acquisition costs rose by 308.7 percent to $26.3 million, while profits fell by 70 percent to $1.9 million.

    Packaged sales continue to rise at Sega, but profits are in decline

    Sega has just released its financials for the nine months ended December 31, 2019, and both sales and profit are down.  Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches

    According to the fiscal report, consolidated sales dropped by 4 percent year-on-year to 250.3 billion yen ($2.3 billion), while profits fell by 95 percent to 681 million yen ($5.6 million) over the same period. 

    Digging into the company's Entertainment Contents division, which houses its video game business, sales rose by 5.2 percent to 166.2 billion yen ($1.5 billion), while operating income dropped by 38.6 percent to 10.6 billion yen ($96.5 million).

    Report- Amazon’s New World, PlayStation games to headline video game anthology series

    Prime Video is developing a new video game show, this one an anthology focused on various titles from multiple developers. Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches

    Per Deadline, the series is dubbed Secret Level. Episodes will be set in the worlds of games including Spelunky and Amazon's MMO New World, along with unspecified PlayStation properties.

    Deadpool director Tim Miller will head up the show through his Blur studio. The company previously worked on Love, Death, & Robots for Netflix, and was name checked as a specific source of inspiration for Secret Level.

    Report- Godfall dev Counterplay Games has quietly closed down

    A developer at Jackalyptic Games claims Godfall creator Counterplay Games closed its doors over the holiday break.

    PlayStation Lifestyle spotted a LinkedIn post from an anonymous employee, who revealed the two studios were at work on an unannounced project. This title was said to be "supercharged" by Counterplay's contribution, and they said it was "impossible to overstate [the team's] impact. From the very first day, that team put their shoulders to the wheel like it was their baby."
