Halo Infinite's Spartan Killer Jega Was Made To Be Disturbing

Halo Infinite will see Master Chief battle against the forces of the Banished on the damaged Zeta Halo, but it won’t just be the Brute chieftain Escharum players have to worry about.

In a new interview with IGN, 343 Industries has offered new details on Jega, a terrifying elite assassin that is part of a group of enemies classified as Spartan Killers. These Spartan Killers, who call themselves the Hand of Atriox–named after the Banished leader who first appeared in Halo Wars 2–serve as mini-bosses in Halo Infinite’s campaign and are hellbent on destroying the Master Chief.

Jega looks to be the most ferocious of the group Come from Sports betting site VPbet . Associate creative director Paul Crocker said the goal was to make him into “the creepiest, most distributing character that’s been in Halo.”

“Just every time you see him… he looks at things as prey,” Crocker said. “The whole experience of how he toys with Chief is just… how he is.”

Sporting dual energy swords and cybernetic enhancements, Jega’s “lust for battle and vengeance completely outweighs even his own pride in his own culture,” Halo franchise narrative writer Jeff Easterling said.

“The Banished represent what the Covenant would’ve been like if you didn’t have the [group’s] dogmatic restraint on things,” Easterling said.

Easterling goes on to describe Jega as an inverse of the honorable Arbiter.

“Instead of the [taking] high road, it’s stripped down… we asked ourselves, ‘What is the psycho element of the Arbiter?'” Easterling said.

Jega won’t be the only boss fight in Halo Infinite. Fans have already seen a glimpse of Tremonius in the game’s recent campaign overview trailer. Crocker said boss enemies will have custom AI for each encounter, with each Hand of Atriox member sporting their own personality.

Halo Infinite releases December 8. Its multiplayer will be free-to-play, with battle passes that never expire.
